Watchtower: the building of my first-ever ttrpg
Yesterday, after months of working on-and-off (farming, you know how it goes), I released my first table top role playing game, WATCHTOWER over on Itch.io. Watchtower by Sabrina Green (itch.io) <- you can download and play here! Donations are suggested, but not necessary. Comments and reviews are also not necessary, but I’ve got a long way to go as a designer and would greatly appreciate any feedback or constructive criticism (just please know now- I’m aware this isn’t considered an accessible document- it’s not formatted to work great with a screen reader, this I am already working on and will share an accessible document as soon as I get it sorted out. Unfortunately, I know that if I didn’t wait to publish this game, even as a less-than-perfect form I’d forget about it for another half year, and it’d never get done).
A simple game involving a d6, d20, a deck of cards and optional coin for luck tosses, explore the world around your watch tower, ever on guard for signs of wildfires or invasion. There are exploratory map-building options as you spend your weeks in the mountains, and chances to meet hikers or other watch tower personnel in their own corners.
This was such a blast to design, and I know I have a long way to go in this field- I’ve decided layout is hell and The Absolute Worst but at the same time can’t wait to learn as much as I can lol- but it’s such a fun process I cannot wait to work and finish some of the other games I’ve had ideas for as well over the last few months.
